Why change name spelling from Mendez to Mendes?
She's credited in Children of the Corn as Mendez. I doubt a movie will have a typo. What was the gain in that?

Yes, Mendes is Portuguese, while "Méndez" would be the correct Spanish spelling. Not sure this is a typo, since South American people pronounce "z" as "s", or whether she has Portuguese ancestry...
