I do not get why this guy is so famous

He is a mediocre singer with below average looks and a miniscule vocal range

He was hyped by by John fucking Landau, in a 1974 edition of the Boston weekly “underground” newspaper, The Real Paper, which was born as Boston After Dark and then had its name purchased by a competing weekly Boston “underground” (read: completely unprofessional” alleged newspaper). In his review of a Bonnie Raitt/Springsteen double-bill, Landau ejaculated, “I have seen the future of rock n’ roll.”

That’s a neat trick, ‘cause JEWS CAN’T ROCK! Landau was pumping for a fellow mensch.

Bruce wrote maybe 2 good songs:Born to Run and Born In The USA. He had ZERO charisma. His video claim to fame is having Courtney Cox pretend to dance with him. He was supported by the Jewish entertainment media establishment.

He deserves the obscurity which he now has.

He likes to milk the blue collar, "I've always been for the workin' folks" persona. I've seen him twice.
Once, unplugged and just him....doing mostly b-side stuff and folk music (it SUCKED). And the other time, full-on arena show with the E-Street Band (it was great). So....I'm pretty neutral about Bruce. I think much of his popularity circles around the energy of his shows, and the mystique that has built up around that E-Street Band of his.

He has a face like an anvil, and he's a far left db, but I understand why he's popular.
And BTW....Neil Young sings (and looks) like a hobo. I will NEVER understand his appeal.

He always sounds constipated. I hear nothing "musical."

For some reason Rolling Stone magazine loved Bruce in the 70's, they promoted the hell out of him..even though most of his albums were just boring. I will say Born in the USA was his best achievement, plus it came along just at the right time with the introduction of the CD. It was the 1st CD I ever bought and I still think of it highly.

Take away Born in the USA and honestly what is there?

Lots...

He's famous for his songwriting mostly. Still is. His songs are stories. His voice -- like his contemporaries such as Johnny Cash, Chris Rea,Tom Waits, etc -- isn't meant to to be the focus of his songs. The 'rough around the edges' stuff is perfect for story telling.

If you're looking for over-produced and auto-tuned male singers with chiselled abs and perfect teeth, stick with Spotify Top 40 stuff.

His song writing talent (which he had plenty IMO) vanished before Born in the USA. Everything from that album on has been putrid.

I think his Thunder Road is one of the more descriptive and poetic lyrics in the vein of Jackson Browne, but somewhere along the way, he just stopped writing good stuff.

Some of his songs are catchy, but nothing to write home about.
