Steve Howey, an actor on Showtime’s “Shameless,” posted a message on Twitter Thursday comparing President Obama to the Ebola virus.

The tweet was later deleted, but, as TMZ.com first reported, it was retweeted by several Twitter users who blasted the 37-year-old television star for the quip.

"Shameless" star Steve Howey can forget about any future White House invitations ... because he blasted President Barack Obama with an Ebola joke that ended up backfiring.

Howey tweeted on Thursday ... "People shouldn't be so scared about this virus from Africa. He only has two more years of his presidency."

Too soon? Howey, or his publicist ... must've thought so after the fact, since he eventually deleted the tweet, but the damage was done. Several of his followers retweeted it, and most of them found it offensive.

We reached out to Howey's rep ... so far, no word back.

Ha ha. That is so true. The way Bush was bashed for eight years by Liberals was unrelentless. But, bash Obama and the poor babies are so offended. We're all racists, you know.

Can you please define (un)relentless for me? I think I agree with what you wrote, I'm just unsure if you are serious with "unrelentless"....hint: my phone tries to autocorrect it.

Actually, most of us liberals just wish the right would make up their minds. It was unpatriotic to bash Bush, but just fine to bash Obama.

You have got to be kidding, right? Even we Republicans bash Bushie Boy. He's an idiot. But if anyone dares to bash Obama, lookout! Obama has proven to be a dud. And now we're stuck having to choose between the lesser of two evils.
