Wouldn't it be something to see Eddie Izzard as the Doctor? :D Not that it's a very probable situation, mind you..:D

benedict cumberbach or is that too on the nose

Agree - would love to see Benedict Cumberbach in the role. I feel his Sherlock is more Dr Who than Holmes.

Eddie Izzard would be great. He could also double as a female doctor.

Go younger, fresh with and with charm, Colin Morgan

Matthew Macfadyen would be a fun guy. I could totally see him as the Doctor. I watched him on The Three Musketeers and he can pull off being funny and serious pretty well. Plus, he is as cute as David and Matt.

Unfortunately the ops suggestions are too big. Would be too expensive to cast them, and they may not be capable of committing to the roll. Lee Evans being in it before wouldn't mean he couldn't be cast, Colin baker had previously appeared in Dr who. Also Russell tovey, who had also appeared previously was the second choice for the Dr.

Personally I think Benedict Cumberbatch would be better to play the master. Again with him now gaining popularity in America with star trek, and the upcoming hobbit films he's likely to price himself out, and not be available, which makes me worry for the future of sherlock, especially with Martin Friedman also gaining notoriety. But he probably could do cameo as the master.
