How long will he stay?

The thing is, when Matt Smith does an interview and that question comes up, he almost always brings up the fact that Tom Baker did it for seven years. I think that young Matt may have a go at Tom's record.

Possibly at least until 2014 or 2015. By then, I think he may want to look for other roles to expand his acting career as I don't think a lot of actors will like to be typecasted in a particular role or fall in the trap of staying too long in the role (ie, Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor for 7 years and Roger Moore as James Bond for over a decade.)

I think he does intend to go for seven years unless he gets bored before then.

No way he stays 7 years... he wouldn't want to be typecast like all the old school Doctors did. Look at the projects he's done before and outside of Doctor Who, they're wildly varied.

I think that would be quite good if he did 7 or maybe even 8 years, I mean he is young enough to do it and it would be interesting to see his doctor evolve over a long period of time.

I read somewhere he doesn't want to end up doing it for 6 years.

hopefully for another 2 or 3 seasons :) we dont want to run out of drs regenerations too quickly

I can see him doing it maybe until 2015. I'll be sad to see him go. He is brilliant!
