I don't say this because it's a black and white issue but that, just as the subjugation of the North American continent isn't simply Manifest Destiny. It can be argued life is better - or worse - because of Western European influence but we shouldn't ignore it was a matter of Conquest. Indigenous people were displaced and thrown aside and denigrated.
