I was saying same , Q got a younger make over and a new bond instead of competing with Craig should be a whole new start ,and would get a long run from him.i said he has a working class way to him more modern street tough and a cheeky cocky attitude .. He scrubs up ok in a suit to.hes a good actor and it would push him into blockbuster leading man status

I was thinking that too----if the Bond producers can't absolutely nail down Idris Elba for the role, maybe O'Connell could pull it off. Only thing is, he's still too young for the role---seems like the folks who make Bond films prefer to cast dudes well into their 30s and '40s for the role. But, yeah, he might make a good Bond, with some more experience under his belt by then.

Not at all. Considering Craig may be doing one more movie, The franchise will get rebooted between 2020-2022. He'd be already pushing by that time, which is a great age to start a new Bond franchise.

O'Connell himself was asked recently about the possibility being in the running for the next Bond, and he briefly mentioned it in part of an interview in this article: https://screenrant.com/james-bond-casting-chances-jack-oconnell-response/

I think he could pull it off, because he's got the screen presence and tough-as-nails attitude for it. He's starting to do more slightly bigger films lately, such as Ferrari, and Back To Black, and that British World War II series he co-starred in recently. Plus he's much closer to the age that the Bond producers usually seem to prefer casting actors for the role in.
