Are We Allowed One Black Star?

Cancer took away Chadwick Boseman.

Historical allegations destroyed Nate Parker's career before it even properly began.

Wesley Snipes was locked up for years over taxes (yeah, cos there aren't millions of rich white assholes who've cheated on their frickin taxes, right?)

Will Smith has been reprimanded over last year's slap.

And NOW they're trying to take Jonathan Majors away from us.

If I were Michael B Jordan I'd be watching my back right now.

You’ve still got Morgan Freeman, Samuel Jackson, Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle, Michael B Jordan, Halle Berry, Zendaya, etc.

reply

He misstepped! He did something gravely inappropriate. He must go imho. I was never a big fan but liked him in Creed 3.

reply

He dug his own grave.

reply

Actually, the Latino population here in the US has gotten well larger than the black population. The movies really need to start using more Latino actors now.

reply

I think it's why they're pushing the black angle so hard in show buiss. They're about to get pushed back another slot by all the asians flooding into the country as well. They gotta get that black representation foothold established now or never.

reply

How do you figure that? Creed 3 already did great biz. This will not hurt the BO but he will not be cast in C4.

reply

I was planning on seeing Creed 3 and Ant-Man 3, eventually, but if the Cancel Culture MOB insist that Jonathan Majors is to be cancelled, I suppose I won't be giving my money to these films.

Bear in mind that films don't make ALL their money in the opening weekend, and that some of us prefer to wait to watch a film via streaming etc.

Some of you don't seem to factor this in before the allegations fly. 😠

reply

NOBODY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT YOUR STREAMING VIEWS.

reply

I don't figure that. I just requoted as I thought it was funny given the OP's title.

reply

Hey, we still have Jussie Smo-- never mind.

reply

LOL!

You mean the famous French actor, Juicey Smullet?

reply

Smollier.

reply

He could survive this. We don't know all the details. As far as I know it's his first offense. Depends how he addresses it. Maybe he'll go to rehab.

reply

Someone posted a link on another thread, where it appears other people have jumped on the bandwagon against him.

Quite pathetic really, but even if he gets over this accusation, it appears his career is over.

I just hope Marvel does the decent thing and calls it quits on the MCU, instead of trying to do what Warner Bros did, and FAILED, to do with their BIG-TIME FLOP Fantastic Beasts film, when they replaced Johnny Depp with Mads Mikkelsen. It DIDN'T work for WB and it WON'T work for Marvel, so the best course of action is for them to finally scrap/reboot this franchise (unfortunately Disney greed/Kevin Feige's pride won't allow for this eminently sensible option: MORE CONTENT rules these people's world 🙄🤦‍♂️).

reply

Honestly, the fantastic beasts films had bigger issue than that recast. They were just boring, tedious films with a stupid story that no one asked for. They were not particularly enjoyable and didn't make a lot of sense. That had more to do with the floppage than switching out Depp with another actor.

reply

💯

reply

Agreed.

Also Marvel recast Bruce Banner after just one appearance and nobody cared.

They could recast Kang for the next Avengers film and throw in the Fantastic Four, Wolverine, Deadpool, the three Spider-Men and the film would be a smash hit.

reply

Guardians 3, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Deadpool 3, future Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Black Panther sequels are easily going to make the money at the box office.

They’ll only reboot if the next Avengers film flops and we’ll see but I don’t think that’s likely to happen.

If he proclaims suicide due to depression he might be forgiven quickly.
I think he is a goner now.

reply

In which case, I hope something good comes out of this, and Marvel finally brings the MCU to a close (before rebooting it in a few years, perhaps). Replacing the lead villain DIDN'T work when Warner Bros replaced Johnny Depp with Mads Mikkelsen (that films was a BIG-TIME *FLOP*) and it WON'T work now. Either they stick with Majors, despite everything, they find some way to write Kang out of the franchise offscreen (which frankly sounds like an awful contrivance no-one will want to see), or they do the decent thing, and SCRAP their franchise. 😠

reply

LMAO...LONG WAY TO GO JUST TO RALLY FOR THE END OF THE MCU,DIPSHIT.

reply

They need to REBOOT, and start off with the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man, alongside Iron Man and Captain America, rather than this piecemeal approach where they only introduce a character once they've finally attained the rights.

Also, how are they going to introduce the X-Men? I find it hard to believe they've been living in the shadows and we haven't heard about any mutants for 20+ films now.

I just hope that at WB/DC, James Gunn is planning everything out beforehand, a luxury that WB possesses, since they own *ALL* the DC characters outright. None of these stupid inconsistent retcons please. Get it right from the damn start! 😠

ANYONE WHO HAS FOLLOWED THE MCU FLICKS ALREADY KNOWS HOW THE XMEN ARE GONNA SHOW UP.

reply

Doesn’t bother me at all how they’re going to bring in the X-Men as long as they’re good films and better than the awful last few X-Men films Fox cranked out like Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.

Also how can you want a reboot after the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home? We’re finally going to get Spider-Man vs Venom in the next trilogy and it’s not going to be the awful Tom Hardy adaptation of Venom.

James Gunn is gonna do wonders with the new DCU though of that we can definitely agree on.
