My favourite quote is when Vadash gets out of the cab and pays the driver and says, "Here, keep the change, send your boys through college."
Hee hee.

Not a favorite quote. I had a problem with the line where Vadash said, "Prove it to me, Anyone can say that they are the manager."
Yes. While this is true, not just any one can show up with the key to the front door and the office.
"Yes. While this is true, not just any one can show up with the key to the front door and the office. "
But don't you think that is precisely the point of the line? That Vadash is ignoring what is irrefutable?
How much is that belt in the window? The one that says $2.95.
...2.95.
Oh no.
What is the speech that Jimmy Stewart makes at the end, straight before she realises who he is?
shareThis?
Alfred: Klara, if I'd only known in the beginning how you really felt about me things would have been different, we wouldn't have been fighting all the time and if we did quarrel it wouldn't have been over suitcases or handbags but over something like whether your aunt or grandmother should live with us or not.
Klara: That's sweet of you to try to cheer me up, I think we better say goodnight. You have an engagement, yes and so have I and we shouldn't be late.
Alfred: You know what I wish would happen? When your bell rings at 8:30 and you and you open the door. Instead of Popkin, I come in.
Klara: No, please don't make it more difficult for me.
Alfred: And I'd say, Klara darling, oh dearest sweetheart, Klara I can't stand it any longer, please take your key and open post office box 237 and take me out of my envelope and kiss me.
Klara: Mr. Kralik, you musn't...
If not, I have the whole scene transcribed haha.
did i say anything derrogatory about the goose liver??
i didn't say that.
I love how whenever Mr. Matuschek(Frank Morgan) asks people their 'honest opinions' about something, Pirovitch(Felix Bressart) quickly leaves the room.
And when Klara(Margaret Sullavan) is trying to sell that larger woman the cigarette box and the women replies by saying exactly what Alfred just told her(that each time they opened it they would hear that song and get sick of it). The way Jimmys face said "I TOLD YOU SO!" was so funny!
-But you don't understand. Ehh..I'm a MAN!
-Well, nobody's perfect.
Some Like It Hot

My favourites are:
Pirovitch: Kralik, you get the wallet.
(Outside the cafe window where Pirovitch is trying to spot and see Kralik's 'mystery girl')
Pirovitch: She has a cup of coffee. and a piece of cake and..(shocked) KRALIK, SHE'S DUNKING!!
Kralik: Well why shouldn't she dunk?
Pirovitch: all right, all right.
(About the cigarette/candy box) Kralik: I think that anyone who smokes candy and listens to cigarettes will love it!!
The "Matthias Popkin" description was pretty funny also.
I loved Pepi's lines the best, but there are an awful lot of good ones from many sources.
shareKlara, after Kralik informs her that he's the new store manager:
"I ask you a simple question, and instead of any consideration, you try to frighten me."
Pepi- "Doctor, did I call you a pill peddler?"
My grandma dropped acid, freaked out, and hijacked a busload of penguins. It's a family crisis.
Alfred: ...no, just a lovely average girl's all I want.
"And oh! That towering feeling. Just to know somehow you are near..."
"All alone in Budapest on Christmas Eve?!"
I love Frank Morgan's delivery of this line.
I love so many of the quotes already stated but I'll add Pirovitch when he is talking about getting the music box for his wife's uncle. "It's worth it to ruin my wife's uncle's Christmas."
share"Now if I were a girl, and had to choose between a young good-for-nothing with plenty of hair and a good, solid, mature citizen, I'd pick Matthias Popkin every time."
"That's Victor Hugo. He stole that."
James Stewart's delivery of those lines were hilarious! I also like the part at the beginning when he first meets Klara, and says,"But if you would tell me your wishes, it's quite possible that I can take care of them to your satisfaction." He just looks irresistibly handsome when he says it. :-)
