My thoughts (spoilers herein)
The story itself was heart-wrenching in the type of hope and despair that were explored, though it seems like it could have explored this theme in a more effective way and not weighed down by some over-extended scenes. The sense of despair that the characters feel by the end of the film is effective and convincing. I wish the resolution at the end would have been more sensible and more directly related to the two of them staying together. Are they staying together only because they get to adopt another child? That seems to be a weaker lesson than had they decided to stay together and then got news about the new adoption.
