I've never cared for the choreography number

I don't know why. Maybe it just doesn't seem to fit with the mood and spirit of the movie.

I don't like this number or 'Mandy'. Vera-Ellen had to be the one with a special clause in her contract. She had the most dance numbers.

Sheldon:"Was the starfish wearing boxer shorts? Because you might have been watching Nickelodeon."

i have to say Mandy would be my second least favorite.

I don't care for it either. I have the DVD and always fast forward through that part. It just doesn't fit in this movie.

For that matter neither does Love You Didn't Do Right By Me. But I love that song and it's Rosemary's only solo. Anything she sings is amazing!

To me, it's just another showcase for Vera-Ellen's (and Kaye's and Brascia's) dancing. I can live with it.

I agree it doesn't fit the rest of the movie and is also my least favorite part. I think if the costumes for it were more attractive it would have helped too.
On that note, I have always seen those costumes as an ugly brown, even on my DVD. (I've seen this movie at least 15 times) But I'm watching it on AMC right now and the costumes are purple (and hers is bright pink, don't remember if that's the same or not). So not quite as ugly in this version. Only changed I've noticed.

What ive always loved about that scene is the dancers look like 90s and 2000s era dancers in looks and body types. Just total babes.

It's not very Christmassy. It would've fit better in a different movie about performers.

It's a great number that effectively lampoons Martha Graham. In fact, it's not really much of an exaggeration of the pretentiousness of modern dance of that period. When colleges started teaching dance, the nineteen-year-olds entering were too old to learn classical technique, so they had to come up with something they could do. What they invented was a lot of running around, looking dire: modern dance.
