Rance Howard, actor and father of Ron Howard, dead at 89
A very fine actor who will be missed. I recently watched 'A Black Day for Mayberry' and noticed that all three Howard's (Rance, Leon & Ron) were in the episode.

But yes, a fine actor. Didn't know that he was in a few Mayberry episodes until years later. He really did his best to see that little Ronny could be a kid and not have his head turned by Hollywood stardom and turn into a drug addled loser like so many child stars. I give him a lot of credit for that.
Ron Howard also cast his dad in the role of the Lovell family pastor in "Apollo 13." He also cast his mom and brother in that film too. Nothing like having a famous director in the family!
Yes, 'Clint' not Leon. :) I've heard the same good things about Rance Howard and how he raised his children. They both tuned out to be fine men.
I just read that Jim Nabors passed away last night. Another great who will be missed.
