Your Personal Theories

One of the great things about no explination is that it allows us to come up with our own theories for the bird attacks. Personally I like to take a more scientific approach to the bird attacks, believing them to be not attacks but rather migratory inturuption caused by solar flares.

The birds are sick of humans. Humans put up utility poles that electrocute them, wind farms that behead them and solar panels that fry them. People hunt and kill birds for sport. And then they eat them. People munch on pumpkin seeds and don't share them with the birds. Worse yet, they invented rock and roll. And elected Donald Trump. Death to people!

Birds are aggressive by nature, they will attack and eat a lot of things. This time the target was man.

I always thought it was meant to be a bit symbolic. Until Tippi Hedren showed up, the birds were fine. Once she invaded the Tandy home, the nest if you will, the birds started to go crazy. Lydia doesn't want Mitch to leave her nest, and her rage is being represented by the birds. And I get that the real reason is that it made for a great scary monster movie, Hitchcock style, but I think he purposefully crafted the story around it to align with the horror element.
