The 3 Hour Tour

I know very little about this show but a thought just occurred to me,
I'm trying to figure out what's more realistic, that a farm girl books the same tour as a movie star and millionaires, or that a movie star and millionaires even bother setting sail on a tiny ship for a 3 hour tour.

Was the tour part of an actual cruise line? Anyone know the backstory more as to what brought the Howels or anyone to take this tour and how much it cost?

According to the back story in Sherwood's script treatment, Ginger was hired for a singing gig in Hawaii... she took the trip on impulse, after a performance one evening.

The Professor had come to the island on sabatical, to finish writing his book, Fun With Ferns.

The Howells also took the trip on impulse, for the Howells, that is. They still packed for their jaunt and told their driver to keep the motor running.

Mary Ann won her trip to Hawaii in a contest... a trip for one. She also took the three hour tour on an impulse.

Good question and answer

The Skipper appeared to have a two man operation. You pick up passengers, sail them around for a few hours and return them. I've been on more than one of them. But to quote Mystery Science 3000, "Repeat to yourself its just a show, I should really just relax."

In the kingdom of the blind, you're the village idiot.
