cast for remake

if they did a remake, which theyre due. ater reading the book, i think crispen glover would make a perfect freddie clegg, he has the quiet submissive, creepy guy thing going for him. scarlet johansen would make a good miranda.

reply

I agree about Crispen Glover, he'd be perfect, but I can't really see Scarlett Johannsen as Miranda. Plus, I don't like Scarlett.

reply

I also agree with Crispin Glover, but not really with Scarlett Johansen. I think maybe Kate Hudson would be better, she is a little older but still not too old.

reply

I think Daniel Craig would be perfect. Helooks like Terence stamp, and, I think he is a great actor

reply

You know, I always wondered who would be a good clegg and crispen glover never popped into my mind!!! but now that u mention it, he would be perfect. I always pictured tobey mcGuire to be clegg, coz he's got the whole nerd thing going on (which is not meant to be an insult, as I love the nerdy look), but now i think crispen glover would do a better job. He has the right intensity. I loved him in charlie's angels . . . that pash with drew barrymore was so random!! As for miranda... someone young and blonde ...

I don't know who Crispin Glover is. But I would like Hugo Weaving - possibly a bit old, but I really liked him in V for Vendetta, and Keira Knightley, or Natalie Portman. They have that gothic look to them. Guess I have different views. I really liked the book though, very chilling and interesting. I would like a remake.

reply

Evan Rachel Wood would be a good Miranda

reply

I think that Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams, would be a great cast for this Movie!

reply

i love cillian murphy .... but i don't think he's got the intensity crispen glover has.

reply

I'd like to see Emma Watson from the Harry Potter movies as Miranda.

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.

Somebody just saw Red Eye. :)
But I agree with your casting.Cillian can do creepy rather well. And Rachel can do sweet and innocent.
I wish they would remake this movie!

reply

Crispin Glover is yummy. My vote would be for him because he's both cute and creepy at the same time.

I don't know Jaime King's work, but I think a less well-known actress than Scarlett would be good. Perhaps a red-headed, big-eyed actress like Jayma Mays.

I could see Glover and Mays playing off each other.

reply

I've read the book and am reading again now and think that Gwyneth Paltrow would be perfect, or maybe perfect several years ago since Miranda is supposed to be of college age. Gwyneth could probably pass for college age and fits the part looks-wise and class-wise.

Yeah, Crispin Glover would definitely be great for the role, though I tend to think of Frederick as being a little younger. I could imagine Scarlett Johansson as Miranda, but I'm not sure... I mean, Miranda is kind of insolent towards Fred, and Scarlett is often kind of bitchy and hostile, for lack of better words, in her roles, so that might work. But I just feel that Miranda acts sort of like she's been raised the way she has, privileged, a little sheltered, and has all these values and "delicate sensibilities" (even just the way she talks), and I'm not sure Scarlett could portray that so well... I can't even really imagine anyone not in the 1960s talking perfectly like her, getting her tone just right.

Miranda-Scarlett Johansson
Frederick-Crsipin Glover
G.P-Vincent Gallo

As I watched The Collector I couldn't help thinking that, if there was a remake, Joaquin Phoenix would be the perfect Freddie Clegg. He has the same "wild eye" look about him as the young Terrance Stamp and, although he can be handsome, you could see that he could also be made be rather vulnerable and awkard looking. Crispin Glover does not have enough Hollywood status to be cast and Phoenix has just enough, especially after his wonderful performance in the Johnny Cash biographical film Walk the Line.

As for the woman, I think Isla Fischer from the The Wedding Crashers, with her stunning red hair would be the perfect object of Freddie's obsession. She is fairly new to the scene but she obviously can act. Scarlett Johanssen has been in too many films lately. It would be nice to see a relative newcomer make a break in this film.

Im thinkin paul bettany would be pretty sweet as freddie..if you just think of his character in gangster number one, you can really see him pulling this off. To play the female lead diane kruger would be amazing. She is such an independant free spirit, who is surrounded by people who want to be her. She is also a damn good actress. Just look at wicker park. And speaking of wicker park, rose byrne would also be pretty great. Scarlett is cool, but a bit too obvious..i'd like to see someone new. Natalie portman is also cool, but she's almost...too good for this role. Like i know her as a strong woman, so i can't imagine her not escaping. lol. Anywho, just a couple suggestions.

reply

I agree with Joaquin Phoenix, I also think Edward Norton and Christian Bale and Cillian Murphy could handle the part.
As for the female role I can't think of someone who would be perfect.

reply

joaquin phoenix is too robust, i think. i don't think ed norton looks that creepy. cillian murphy i think would do good, but i think crispin glover is better at being intense and, um, creepy. christian bale did american psycho and the machinist, and he's a good actor, but he's got too much self confidence, that you can see in his acting, to play this character.

we can't stop here, this is bat country.

reply

crispen glover ? the collector had a bit of an innocent look to him. and glover....i dont know.

reply

Joaquin Phoenix, Adrien Brody or perhaps Crispin Glover as Freddie and how about Halle Berry for Miranda (obsession for an older than college woman)? She certainly has the vulnerability, beauty and range. Recall her and Brody at the Academy Awards. Maggie Gyllenhaal might be interesting too. And how about Terence Stamp as that nosy neighbour??? (Maybe, ole' Freddie is still there)

reply

Joaquin Phoenix !!!!!!!!!!! such good choice... CHEERS

I thought about this while I was watching the movie for the first time this morning and Radha Mitchell and Ewan McGregor popped into my head.

reply

Ava Green, without a doubt.

I vote for Crispin Glover, too. I love this movie. He'd make a great Freddie Clegg -- handsome, creepy, innocent, self-conscious, and intense. Crispin has a great talent for tapping into the psyche, in all it's intensity and madness, of his characters.
