Did anyone watch this and actually think it was meant to be SERIOUS?

Anyone watch this at any point and believe the show was intended to be a serious show?

My brothers and friends thought it was intended to be serious, but found it laughable. We even made our own parody videos of it. I remember telling me how her brothers (our uncles) loved this as kids and we were like "huh? who the hell can think this was good? Hahahah!!" When I hit the double digit age I realized it was meant to be silly (though they probably didn't as kids Im sure!)

I was 9 when it premiered. I didn't see the camp factor at the time, so I suppose I thought it was as serious as Superman.

Are most of the TV shows in this realm of style meant to be taken seriously? I say no.

Something that just came to me; Batman did make a trip to Londinium, but could you imagine the caped crusader going cross country in that garb? Funny!

He didn't sail as Batman, he was dressed as Bruce Wayne on the boat - all his BAT-QUIPMENT was packed in crates. Dick expected to do a lot of studying 

I took it seriously as a kid, even got scared at some of the deathtraps, but saw it for what it was a few years later.

As a kid I did, sure. Many kids did they same.

There are a lot of stupid people out there who really do think that this show was meant to be serious. I like it better than any other superhero interpretation because it's just plain fun. Batman running for mayor against the Penguin? Being in surfing competition with the Joker? Dancing? It's just a fun escape from reality. I'm so tired of these superhero adaptations where everybody's walking around with a scowl on their face.

Me too!! Who wants a sour-puss anti-hero superhero anyway?! I want my super heroes to be someone you can admire, true, brave, generous, kind, and fun!! What's the matter with that?

I was very young and watching the repeats in the 70s. At that point most shows I watched from then were just as silly. My father told me there will come a day when I'll be smarter then those characters. Still waiting for that day. :P

As said by most, when I saw this as a kid, I thought it was a serious show. But I was about six.

Watching it as an adult, you realise how silly it is. Obviously that was the intent, for it to be funny in a 'so bad it's good' sort of a way.

I was 12 when this series began. Everyone I know watched from the very first episode to laugh at how corny it was.
