Brent character. Why did they.....

....kill him off? I liked him. He was good successor of Charlton Heston. James Franciscus did a good job replacing. I was sure they would sent him to other sequels. He was pretty, cute and normal. Taylor was so extra and intense.

But for no reason they killed him. And poor brainless Nova. It was sad to see them go. I really don't like this sequel. I hate everything about it.

They figured this be the last Apes movie (and Heston agreed to be in it only if they killed him off)

They were wrong. Had they figured they'd do more they probably would've had Brent and Nova escape the underground city (Taylor would've still died setting off the bomb) and survive the (non planet destroying) nuclear explosion to star in Apes 3 .

You can see how they obviously hadn't thought through a 3rd film with the ridiculous way they had Zira and Cornelius manage to locate Taylors submerged ship, somehow manage to bring it to surface, somehow manage to fly it out of the atmosphere just as earth explodes, and somehow go through the same time warp to end up in Taylor/Brents time (gee its a shame Taylor never thought to do all that huh?)... And then the even more ridiculous way Zira/Cornelius reveal they knew all along of what happened to humanity and how apes took over (the even more ridiculous cats/dogs died out so humans took apes as pets which led to planet of the apes, ignoring the WW3/nuclear war angle/warning of the first 2 films )

And what is so ridiculous about replacing cats and dogs with apes as pets. Plus apes can do so many tasks that cats and dogs could never do.

Dr Milo was a brilliant ape scientist. He found the ship, repaired it, used leftover fossil fuel from the forbidden zone and reversed the flight data to save himself and Zira and Cornelius from impending doom. Logical enough for me
