Poor George C. Scott!

He's here, acting his heart out, and Joanne Woodard is phoning it in.

Woodward is on record saying that making this movie was one of her most miserable experiences and she nearly decided to end her career because of it. She didn't divulge why, though she did say it had nothing to do with Scott.

EDIT: But don't take her word for it, I'm sure "Otter" the douche bag below knows more about it than she herself.

Look, Woodward has to spend the whole production putting up with Scott, okay?

He was a raging asshole, and he beat up his women.

Scott copped to being a binge drinker, and this kind of behavior you're talking about occurs during binges. If her disappointment in the filming experience had nothing to do with Scott (see above), my guess is he was sober during the shoot.

Woodward is on video talking about how she likes to see "the process" when method actors are acting. She doesn't seem to get it. You're not supposed to see "the process", it's supposed to seem natural. That's probably why so many method actors are fake.

I've never liked the, "Ask for the time and they take apart their watch" kind of actors. And I'm thinking of Newman's smile, which always seemed put on. The perfect smile, but the sort of smile he might have rehearsed a couple dozen times. Who needs the process? I want the result.
