This movie sucks!

Okay it may have influenced some other movies but I was just watching it now and I stopped because it's ,BORING.

The movie goes like this:

Bunch of teenagers are driving around.
Then they are dancing at the school party.
Again, they are driving around.
Again, they are dancing at the school party.
Again, they are driving around.

This is when I press the stop button.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot:
Some guy doesn't want to leave the rural town even though he got a scolarship.
Some guy is driving around in a yellow car with a girl that is like 12 years old.

I mean seriously , what's the big hype about this movie?

Dazed and confused , which I don't like very much, is great compared to this one.
I don't even have to compare Grease , which is an outstanding movie.

One of the greatest and most involving and character-driven movies ever made.

Perhaps the OP didn't like it because these kids were not shooting up their schools.

I agree with OP, except I love D&C, Grease not so much.

I agree. the 'diner' is similar in scope, but better in every way, especially the acting.

Well, the movie is not one of those dead teenager films where a psycho in a mask stalks and kills them, nor is it a *beep* It is about a time when you are a teenager and your whole life is ahead of you and you have to decide what you want to do. The choices then were simple: Go to college, or stay in town and work. This also was a different time because even hoods were not so violent. The Pharoahs aren't like the Crips and Bloods of today.
I think you have to understand what that is in order to enjoy the film. Yes, considering what things were like then vs. now, we see how simpler life was. Sadly, the time this story takes place was shortly before Kennedy's assassination, which changed the country in a big way. Also, the music was a lot simpler too. Think of the hard rock that came about a decade later.
Maybe that is why you can't see how great the film is.
