Why are people crazy about Young Don.

I like the Young Don scenes in the contrast with the Michael story and showing his imperfections and disdain for his family compared to his father, but all over the internet I read that the young Don scenes are "way better" and that they should have "made a whole movie about that period."

While I do agree that they gave me too little, I would like to know why people would ever say that the young Don scenes were better and why Robert De Niro won an Oscar. Even though he was decent, there was nothing about his performance that stood out to me.

I'm not challenging anyone, I would just really like to know someone's opinion on this.

For one thing, DeNiro was always a much better actor than Pacino. And Pacino is great.
But also, I find the rise of Vito a more interesting story than the fall of Michael. I love the low key way he manipulated his own friends while making good for them. The whole way that he went about doing favors and then getting favors a lot more fascinating than seeing him truly on force and violence. The violent act he did was even low key and without witnesses but people could figure it out and knew he was a man to be respected. He had real honor and principles.

Michael was conniving and strategic and that was awesome to see in his rise, but his fall was less interesting . And I don't like screaming Pacino.

That's my 2 cents
