Wondering about Gene Siskel
I wonder why Gene Siskel loved this film so much.. This is a good film but very depressing and bleak in spots, I just wonder why he valued it so highly when it is a real downer at times.

It's a reasonable drama and Travolta is generally strong and most definitely it's a potent time capsule, but surely he must have noticed these long, silly dance sequences that tear down the whole enterprise quite ruthlessly. Who in their right mind could stomach that sh-t and not löwer the film's score for that goofiness?

The dance sequences aren't silly! They are the film. That gang fight scene was comic book goofy though.
