Sarah (Lori Hallier) was genuinely attractive and she wasn't a tramp in this movie. TJ was originally her beloved beau, but he left town without informing her of his intentions to try to make it on the West Coast. Thus Axel understandably pursued her and she accepted him as her new boyfriend even though she still loved the missing TJ. When the latter suddenly returned to town after failing out West she found herself in an emotional conundrum.

How is that being a "tramp" or "skank"? It's simply being human.

Interesting bit: It was after Sarah rejected Axel for TJ that the withdrawn Axel moved to Southern Cal and started Guns N' Roses. The rest is history.
