Anyone else prefers it to Beverly Hills Cop?

I like Beverly Hills Cop, but I gotta admit that in the middle section, I thought it was slowing down a bit too much. And while I certainly think it's good, I don't think it's great.

48 Hrs. however, man what a movie. The chemistry between Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte was perfect, I really bought it when they finally became friends. The humor is really classic as well, the club scene where Murphy takes charge is classic. It even has some heart as well, you sympathize with both the characters. Heck, it even has a great plot! I could barely wait to see how the story would unfold as the movie went on.

6.9 is just ridiculous for this movie! In the very least I think it deserves a 7.5. Great good ol' action comedy, and one of the best in the buddy cop genre.

To tell the truth, they're about equal to me. I echo everything you said about 48 Hrs. though. The movie succeeds on every level and it's by far one of the best in its genre.

You want something corny? You got it!

lately i've come to realise they are very different, therefore goes under different categories, critics complain about the second "beverly hills cop" movie being colder and more violent, i thought the same case was with the sequel to this, but watching this again now both "48 hrs" movies are really brutal, and also this contains language and nudity not found in "beverly hills cop", i just realised what a much more innocent movie that is and i'm guessing this is more difficult to air and isn't cute enough to remake or make a tv series of today, by the way, the villain in "beverly hills" plays a small part in this and is not cast as a bad guy which he frequently appears as in movies, the bad guys in both "48 hrs" movies comes off as bratty annoying pricks and you can't wait to see them get wasted, this also differs how it takes a long while before eddie murphy appears, before that it's pretty much jack cates' movie, that looks weird today since you view this as an eddie murphy flick, but i guess murphy was mainly known from "saturday night live" at this time and completely unknown overseas then. both "beverly hills cop" and "48 hrs" features amazing soundtracks. there are some scenarios repeated in the two "48 hrs" movies, still you don't see critics go on about it. funny when he walks up to a girl at the bar and says "my name is reggie hammond" and she replies "so what?" and cates at murphy's hangout "my favorite place". cates driving through the steep hills of san francisco is like a roller coaster and gives me a vertigo vibe.

ryanne and madeleine,
screaming and pulling each others hair,
im trying to break up the catfight,
madeleine stayed on from last night,
as ryanne walked in the mornin light,
now im in the middle as they scratch and bite,
they made up as i got teeth marks and soar,
they pulled me down on the floor,
and showed their appreciation,
for being a peacemaker.

No, this movie is terrible. If you're not going for comedy, at least make it a bit more believable.
