Remake with female lead

Would be nice. Charlize Theron, JLaw, Brie?

reply

The only appropriate "remake" would be a straight book adaptation.

Considering countless of Rambo pseudo-remakes over the years, it would be more than welcome for millions of people to see more versions of the character, as long as it stays as far away from the book or Stallone's versions as possible, otherwise it is unnecessary to repeat what's been done before, do something different, adapt it to modern times to reflect the time we live in, not the 70's or 80's.

reply

I am having tremendous trouble making sense of that sentence, possibly because its as long as a paragraph.
so...

because they are many "pseudo-remakes" ( are there? examples?)
another remake would be welcome. (hows that make any sense?)
as long as it stays as far away from the book or Stallone's versions as possible (well then iot wouldnt be a remake?)
otherwise it is unnecessary to repeat what's been done before.

hmm , so are you saying "theres been many remakes of this formula before , but another would be good if its not like any of the many previous?

and why not the book? are there many films like the book already?

reply

because they are many "pseudo-remakes" ( are there? examples?)

Outside of Hollywood, possibly dozens of foreign films have done them, I can't even remember what they are.
It would be a remake when it's using basic character traits, names and so forth. Many remakes have done that, like Tarzan.

i didnt think your criteria was that specific.
i cant think of any other "soldier goes on rampage" films..

if you include the rest of the series however, its more of a "ex green bert comes out of retirement for one last mission " i guess theres probly loads , like 'Commando'

reply

If a film was actually based upon the book and the Rambo character had a different name, most people would not recognize it as having anything to do with the Stallone films.

I'd like to see a version that stays much closer to the book.

No thanks!

Miriam Margolyes could take out Wilma Teasle and her posse with guns, with knives, with her bare hands. She'd eat things that would make a Billy goat puke as well.

Melissa McCarthy

It could be argued that films like "I spit on your grave" is essentially a revenge/pushed too far/Rambo type character and story.

Absolutely not.
