I never realized there was another version of this

Yeah back in 1974 there was a Canadian made for TV adaptation of the First Blood novel. I just recently saw it for the first time and it follows the novel a lot more closely except they changed Rambo's name to Ronbo and Trautman wasn't in it but other than that it was pretty much the same thing as the novel. I'm not sure if that makes it better but it's interesting to say the least.

"Ronbo" 😜

This story sounds 100% believable and totally not made up. 😂

I would love for this to be a real movie though.

I'd argue if Trautman wasn't in it, it's not that good an adaptation. Some of my favorite scenes from the novel are the ones where Trautman tells Teasle about Rambo and unlike this movie, Teasle listens to him and regrets how he treated Rambo. There's another sort of adaptation from the 90s called the Hunted but it's also inferior for combining Teasle and Trautman into one character who is played by Tommy Lee Jones. Supposedley I've heard Quentin Tarrantino wants to write a screenplay for a more faithful adaptation to the novel but since he won't make it himself it's doubtful to happen.
