Couldn't they have just gone to another amusement park?

I know it would probably ruin the fun and plot of the movie, but they're in southern California. Couldn't Clark instead have just taken his family to one of the other dozen amusement parks in the region (Disneyland, Knotts, Six Flags, etc.)if Walley World was closed rather than buying a bb gun and going nuts? On the other hand, I guess at that point in the trip he wasn't exactly at his most sane and rational.

They literally couldn't.

First of all, nothing is as "big" as the movie's version of Disneyland, which probably also means actual Disneyland does not exist in the movie's universe.

Secondly, they couldn't go to Six Flags, because physically speaking, they are ALREADY there. (So Disneyland and Six Flags do not exist in this movie's universe, or are a 'combined' park with different name)

This is not a family that makes decisions based on thorough research, facts and calm wisdom.

They're like a family that thinks 'fast food' is 'good food quickly', and does every trendy thing imaginable, because they think those things are the best - where everyone flocks, is where they want to be, end of story.

It's like someone thinking the cruelty-based and inhumane, unethical, greedy, human-rights-stomping, exploitative 'golden arc' junkfood chain is the best place to eat, and they would call it a 'family restaurant'.

Walley World (Disneyland, really) is the junk food of amusement parks, so that's where they want to go, regardless of facts. It's like people that make smart, wise, well thought-out, well-researched decisions about their daily food, diet and health versus people that just blindly believe ads and go wherever the corporations point.

They have probably never even heard of Cincinnati, and they definitely don't make comparisons between amusement parks and write down pros and cons. They know everyone wants Walley World, so they think it is the best place to go. It's a pretty stupid family.

Just to ask some posters here, why do people not explain their claims at all? "King's Island is a million times better than.."

Ok, how did you measure it? EXACTLY million times, really? That's pretty rare.

HOW can the difference between functionally the same kind of places be THAT vast??

What creates this enormous difference? Are the rides faster? The personnel friendlier? The queues shorter? No explanation, just "this is better".

Sheesh.
