Was anyone else disturbed by Shepherd's impressions?


He did impressions of Mexican-Americans, even in front of Mexican-Americans. What was that about? Did I miss something there? I can't even understand why that was in the film.

Yes, we can't make fun of anyone except white Americans. Or white Europeans. Or white people, in general. Unless they are supporters of the LGBTQ. If you make fun of Mexicans, that is racist. If you make fun of Americans, that is being a good good boy! Have a Scooby snack.

It was the character Alan Shephard played by Scott Glenn, that did the impression, not Sam Shephard.

Bill Dana's "Jose Jimenez" astronaut routine was popular and considered funny at that time, and the movie is depicting that time, so no problem.
