So, let's settle this. Is the Huxtables REALLY middle class?

I have seen this debate pop up a lot on the internet for a long time. People claim that the Huxtables are the average middle class family. But there have been some push back with people claiming that the Cosby's were never "middle class". And saying that they are/were is a flat out lie.

What's your take??

I would say Upper Middle Class at the very least. But given their professions they were more likely on the lower end of high class.

reply

I'd call them moderately wealthy. Like others said, lawyer wife, Cliff was a doctor. Nice condo.

I would say at the very least they are upper middle class if not upper class. A doctor and a lawyer can't be doing badly and it was a nice pad they had. Kids were never left wanting.

reply

A doctor and a lawyer doesn't equal middle class. If one or both do pro bono or free work all the time that would be different.

NO is the answer.

reply

When judging them as they were presented on the show they were clearly middle class.

When it comes time to pay taxes they were were the 1%.

They always looked more upper middle class to me. Maybe Cliff's tastes and interests made him appear lower than he was but they seemed very comfortable and both parents had great jobs.
