Same scene in every cop movie

A cop getting screamed at by his boss in every rouge, I'll-do-it-my-own-way cop movie. They all have this scene.

The cop(s) in question always solve the case and their hunch is always right.

A trip to the strip club as well.

Damn right!

So what.

Yes, I believe it's mandatory.
See Lethal Weapons.

In the movie Network those harried police bosses are called "krusty but benign."

This point was addressed in "National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1"

Did you ever think that maybe Beverly Hills Cop invented this trope?

reply

Yeah, ‘cause no lieutenant or commissioner ever chewed out Dirty Harry.

The world didn’t begin in 1984; and I prefer “cliche” over “trope.”

Also, no one “invents” a cliche. Someone creates an idea that others make into a cliche through lazy and unimaginative over-use, to be kind about it, or plagiarism, to get straight to the point.
