Why didn't William Zabka become a bigger movie star post-The Karate Kid?

Don't you agree that he had the looks, charisma and the athleticism to play an action movie leading man? He was also the perfect age to be a leading man during the '80s-'90s action movie boom but he just never got the roles. Was it because he unfortunately got typecast as the mean, blonde bully kid in movies like Back to School, National Lampoon's European Vacation, and Just One of the Guys?

Mediocre actor not that that ever mattered. He had an ok career and has done some directing and writing. Might have been too white and too blonde.

Because he couldn’t act?
(Still can’t.)
