That's all just comic book stuff or science fiction. Extremely limited for consideration as "best movie of the '80s".

Great list! I definitely agree on The Terminator, Aliens, Raiders, Last Crusade, The Thing, Mad Max 2, Das Boot, Ghostbusters, and Amadeus.
One of my favorite "guilty pleasures movie, Let it Ride, came out in 1989. It would be in my top 20 but I don't think a lot of people have even heard of it! It has so many funny, quotable lines..too many to count!

Thanks, those films are all classic's for me. For Blockbuster's the 80's clearly were knocking it out of the park. Amadeus is one of the most underrated Best Picture Oscar films ever. It's a stunning film, something I don't think would be made today. I'm shocked the Terminator wasn't mentioned barely at all. Cameron's best film for me.

But 80's had some great non action films like Withnail And I, Once Upon a time in America, stand By me, Au Revoir Les Enfants, Blue Velvet, Mishima etc..

reply

The Empire Strikes Back
Predator
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Batman
Glory

reply

The Thing? SERIOUSLY? That has to be the most boring movie in existence!

reply

No, it probably is my favourite movie from the 80s along with The Little Mermaid.

reply

My two favorites are the first BTTF and The Wrath of Khan.
