All she knew is that her pimp told her to poison Amanda, she didn’t know who McCallister or Joshua were. All she would be able to give the police was her pimp and he was dead.

Good question. And if they had to kill her, why do it using explosives with mercury switches proving conclusively that it wasn't an amateur job?

Exactly! It's almost like they wanted the police to realize there were some serious heavy hitters behind this. Way too high profile.
