The worst and most frustrating film in the series....
As a kid, I was a huge fan of this film and I wish I could somehow unlock that feeling again during re-watches, but this one is just so painful, it's near impossible to step around it's shortcomings. Some things that I can't overlook:
-So they kept the time frame established from Nightmare 1/2 but couldn't at least have one or two of the kids from the pool party? I mean, none of these kids knew each other, but they are all same age and lived on Elm Street? )"You are the last of the elm street kids") Seriously?
-So Nancy knows the REAL danger of Freddy and confirms he is "real" to Kristen, but then just keeps it to herself until AFTER kids start dying?
-So Simms doesn't believe any of you?? BRING HER INTO A DREAM KRISTEN! Ugh, seriously, this is the most aggravating part! How simple would that have been???
-So the "puppet master" can ghostly walk through lock doors and that isn't suspicious enough to warrant more attention? Your answer to that is to lock their rooms? He already went through locked doors! So how is that going to help?
-Seriously, she jumped 10 feet in the air and threw herself head first into the TV set?
-I am the wizard master and can hurt you with my spells but instead of staying a safe distance away, why don't I just run towards you to get into glove range!!
-So Nancy, Joey yells, breaks some mirrors, and you all of a sudden believe Freddy is dead? Just like that? And your d*ck of a dad's "ghost" somehow enters KRISTEN's dream?? And he's sweet and loving and you fall for it?? GTFOH!
-So with the time gap, we are to assume Freddy has been "toying" with these kids ever since the events of Nightmare 1? Why does he finally start killing them then>? And why keep Joey alive? Certainly if he died, they would have been more adamant to punish the doc/Nancy for prescribing the hypnocil!
I could point out even more flaws with "story" and I can't see why anyone likes this anymore, aside from maybe having Nancy in it(she's very yummy in this!). The script is easily the worst in the series and Freddy just makes no sense at all. It really bugs me that fans of this film bash Nightmare 2 when this film does even more questionable things with "dreams". Seriously, who's "dreaming" at the junkyard?? No one. But Freddy can manipulate the entire place, throw cars around, and of course, EXIST in the real world by possessing his own skeleton?
Anyone else feel this one gets worse every time they watch it?
Who's strangling the cat?
