I Actually Felt Bad For Devito's Character

Devito's character (Iforgethis name) was very miserable, and I actually felt bad for him. He was underappreciated, didn't have any friends, and his mama made fun of him.

In the whole movie we're led to believe he murdered someone, as a favor, to get what HE wants in return, which is to have his own mother killed. But, despite this, I couldn't help put pity the poor guy - no friends, he was told he was no good as a writer, and lastly, Momma abused him physically and mentally (as funny as some of it was), and overall, he was too miserable and too likable there's no way you could hate him. DeVito did a flawless job.

He has a child like innocence that makes you feel sorry for him.

Me too, Owen was like a manchild who wanted to have friends and live a normal life like many people his age, Owen is IMO the far more sympathetic of the two.

As for Larry I felt he brought most of the misery among himself and put himself in that self destructive path when he was capable of moving on and living the best life, I don't even think Larry would've given Margaret much of a thought if she hadn't stolen his book.
