Sometimes it's the simplest things that bring the greatest joy. This was always one of my favorite lines in the movie.
shareyears ago i remember reading james earl jones picked some movie roles because of the places he would get to be in, like the cannon b movie "allan quatermain and the lost city of gold", how neat of an explanation is that in a business of fortune and fame, anyway i came to think of that as i see him in this surrounded by exotic animals and settings, it almost feels like a shame to have someone with such a powerful imposing voice performing some of the nasty dialogue in this movie, in my opinion this pretty much survives on the story, and are dull on the jokes but it has a charm about it and with a good message i suppose, this would make a great family feature if they had just left some embarrassing part for that out, its such a sweet movie that some scenes and words just don't seem to fit in. i prefer eddie murphy very early in his career, where he played everyday cool guys often in action comedy buddy movies (beverly hills cop, 48 hours, trading places), by the late 1980's he had begun to play too many macho roles such as boomerang as the most extreme example and by the 1990's and onwards in mainstream family movies. i love that the two bad guys from trading places returns as their old roles in this. there's one thing that don't seem to add up though, how lisa's daddy suddenly has a problem with how the king speaks to him after throughout the movie being guided by the almighty dollar.
