I agree. I have it rated an 8 as well and I don't just give out high ratings easily.
I was noticing the same thing as I browsed the boards about black films or films with mostly black cast members being rated lower especially when I saw this one, I was pretty surprised! You may actually have a point there. If it is true, that's pretty bloody messed up.
This was a classic funny comedy that should appeal to everyone, regardless of race. I also enjoyed the fact that it was a positive black film for a change as opposed to films that deal with gang violence, drugs, slavery or civil rights. Seems like the only way for a black film to ever get noticed is to have some type of negative theme or vibe associated with it. Why can't it just be a nice quirky romantic comedy like this and still be highly rated?
