What if in Die Hard 6.0 John McClane goes into a time machine and travels back to Christmas 1988 and fights against the 12 terrorist with his younger self? Then they would together go into a time machine and travel to 1990 and 1994 to stop Colonel Stuart and Simon?

Sort of like Terminator 5. Would that make a good movie?

The article states that those plans are in limbo since the Fox Disney merger.
So no, there is no expected prequel.
