Why was it all the Dr.'s fault?

Tangina told him that Kane found her and it's all his fault....did I miss the explanation why?

reply

because Seaton put Carol Anne under hypnosis and made her relive the horrors thus somehow reviving Rev. Kane.

reply

Apparently Kane was lost after PGII but was able to find his way back to Carol Anne when the doctor put her under hypnosis and made her relive her experiences.

reply

Wasn't she already seeing him (as the window cleaner) in the first scene?

reply

She'd already been undergoing hypnosis at the school by that point

reply

Not his fault then.

Unless he knew it would bring Rev Kane back it's merely an accident.
Very mature to look to blame rather than help

TRANCHE is correct. Carol Anne had ALREADY seen Kane in the first five minutes of the film as the "Window Cleaner". I also had a problem with this. Since he had to put her under hypnosis in order for her to remember, wouldn't that suggest that someone (or something) deleted her memory of the past two incidences with "The Beast"/Kane? I'm pretty sure Carol Anne was about 9 or 10 on the second film and about 12 in this, so wouldn't that suggest, outside of Amnesia, that she would most certainly remember the events that happened two or three years ago? Also, these experiences would have been very traumatic on her and I'm sure she wouldn't have just "consciously forgot" these incidents.

In all, it was just a lame ass way to bring Kane back to the story and a *beep* excuse for a sequel. THE END.

Knock it off, Hudson.

Yeah you're right, I've never thought about why Carol Anne would have needed to be hypnotised - I guess she could have been traumatised and that either gave her amnesia or she just plain refused to talk about what happened to her - but some kids make fun of her (by making ghost noises) when she gets dropped off at school so she must have said something about the haunting or they wouldn't know about it

Exactly. So it really makes absolutely no sense to me. She obviously talked about it and Carol Anne's parents talked about it, which is revealed when Aunt Pat (Trish?) was in the bedroom with Bruce and she was talking *beep* about Carol Anne. Dr. Seaton was Carol Anne's shrink, apparently, so she had to tell him about her past two experiences , so she had to remember the incidences, even without the power of suggestion. The kids at school know about it, Bruce and Aunt Pat (Trish?) know about it, Donna knows about it, Scott's baby sis, Marci, knows about it, and the kids at Carol Anne's "gifted school" know about it. This film tries it's best to ignore P2, but I think that's this film's biggest downfall, it tries to hard to retcon the original and the second film that it ends up being a convoluted mess of *beep* It's just a terribly written script. That's what I blame it on.

Carol Anne explains that if you talk it about things they happen, and then, as if to demonstrate this point. So screams go away to the hand in the mirror, and that gives it the power to smash the mirror. Tangina blames him because he made her talk about him through hypnosis.

She had already been hypnotized at that point. The woman asked the doctor if he had ever put her under, and he said just once, and it was terrifying. So the process that already begun when the movie started.

Since he had to put her under hypnosis in order for her to remember, wouldn't that suggest that someone (or something) deleted her memory of the past two incidences with "The Beast"/Kane? I don't think she had to be put under to remember, I think she had to be put under to talk about it. Remember her aunt and uncle know there has been some trauma, which is why they are sending her there, but she never wants to talk about anything. Tangina does say that he made her remember, but that doesn't mean she forgot everything. She likely remembers what happened, but doesn't spend time thinking about all the details.

Also her age is debatable, because the movies timeline doesn't follow their release times. Carol Anne says that she is 5 at the beginning of Poltergeist 1. Poltergeist 2 supposed to be a year later, So when does this movie take place? She could be as young as 7/8 in this movie. The younger age would make it difficult to remember all the details.
