Overrated

A decent MOW trumped up to become one of the worst films to ever win the best picture oscar. Overacting, and a chore to sit through. Pretentious.

No it's not it's awesome, and this is coming from someone who is autistic myself, in my opinion Hoffman and Cruise were both superb and they both each should have got an Oscar. Not overrated at all.

It's a pity there isn't more films covering Autism other than this, the only one that comes to mind is Ben X which is also very good.

But yes this film was awesome.

Hairspray or Who Framed Roger Rabbit (p-p-p-lease) deserved the OscaR (THE FIRSt due to the subject matter and that it inspired a major Broadway and still later Hollywood musical) and the latter due to, kind of like Rain man itself with autism, inspiring respect, in this case, animation (as I said jokingly in "As an autistic, this offends me", mentally handicapped people had taken over the entertainment industry in the 80s, be it television, rap, etc. and made it either too in-you-face as in rap---or too boring----as in tv...or both as in music...in the 1980s).
