Don Vincent..

The scene between Gino & Don Vincent didn’t make any sense at all. When I think of this movie I can’t help but remember that scene between the both of them because I have a hard time understanding what happened. Now Gino aka the don he was supposed to impersonate goes to see Don Vincent. Ok. Vincent then demands what is Gino’s purpose there. Gino fumbles because he can’t think of one. Don Vincent gets nervous & gives the nod to his underling who then takes out a knife & goes to do poor Gino in.

Then Gino has the coin in his hand that he’s nervously turning over in his palm, where Don V sees it and asks what is it, then Gino tells him the “small coin” bit & then Don Vincent says “It’s always nice to meet a new friend” & they both celebrate. The guy who was only 2 seconds away from knifing Gino in the back now has two glasses in his hand which he gives to them both & walks away.

WOW! I wish I could find help like that. It’s only feasibly impossible to do that, the way the scene is written and plus what was the big deal if Gino the “Don” was in Vincent’s territory or paying him a visit without him knowing about it? Vincent: “I must ask you, the reason for your visit.” Ok, I get that but since Gino couldn’t give one, Vincent took that as a cue to have the guy killed?

From what proof? IF he did go ahead and do that, to another families Don, then why wouldn’t he have to worry about them coming to kill him in return? What should you expect after doing that? How’s he going to explain it to the other families who would also ask for his reasons in doing this? He has no proof one way or the other. Sorry but it’s just a poorly executed part of the movie that doesn’t fit. To ME, it makes no sense whatsoever but I’m sure many of you feel differently about it but that’s just my take.
