Name one aspect you love about The Burbs

There are many that I love but I love the set design of the film. I love the hills and trees behind the houses, I love the peacefulness of the other houses net to the Gothic atmosphere and presence of the klopecs. The whole layout of the street makes me want to move there.
What are your favorites?

The location reminds me of the neighborhood I grew up in. It all seems familiar.

He was my C.O. in Nam. CIA listed him as MIA but the V.A. ID'd his M.O. and put out an APB.

The absence of obligations like a job (at least on screen). They look so carefree and they have all this free time, they're free to do whatever they want all the time that we see them. One other poster mentioned that they behave like children, well i think that hits the nail on the head. Who wouldn't want to have a life like that?

The idea of being a teenager and having "younger" older people to hang out with was great. I never had that, as all my neighbors were in their 50's when I was 17. Hanks was 32 when "The 'Burbs" was filming and Ducommun was 36.

This movie came out when I was 17 (same age as Corey Feldman), so of course that grabbed me right away. I'd have loved to be able to take part in neighborhood drama like Ricky did with Ray and Art. Plus, those guys together was a riot. Especially the scene in the evening when Art relays the "Skip" story to Ricky and Ray. Love it.

I like Rumsfield's dialogue, especially his interactions with the Klopeks, and his over the top jingoistic and militant personality. He's probably my favorite character in the movie.
