Worst friday in my opinion

Anyone else agree? And btw, I haven't seen the remake, so idk if that would be worse than this one.

But I will say it's a little better than "Jason X," but that's not saying much.

Clark's destiny = Superman, Lex Luthor & Lois Lane.

It's not the best in the series by any means....but not as bad as some that came after. Jason Goes to Hell was a pile of fecies contained within a tightly sealed mason jar. Jason X is comedy if anything and should never be included in a box set if one does eventually come to exist. Those are just my opinions though, I'm not knocking those who did maybe enjoy those two.

I loved this when I saw it in the theatre. The Metropolis song ("The Darkest Side of the Night") still brings me back to those days. It's really lost a lot of its appeal for me over the years however. The first four are by far the best, and the series really lost its footing after Jason Lives. I'd say Jason Goes to Hell is easily my least favourite.

For what it's worth, here is my list (from most to least favourite):

Part 2
Part 1
Part 4
Part 3
Part 6
Part 5
Part 8
Remake
Jason X
Freddy vs. Jason
Part 7
Jason Goes to Hell

A lot of people rank this as the worst in the series. I always had a soft spot for it, maybe nostalgia talking as I stayed up late to watch it on telly with my dad one night as a kid.

Part 8 was not the worst one by far. Alot of people can't accept it as being more of an stylized action/adventure movie vs straight horror. It has memorable characters, Kane Hodder at his best, and kudos to the filmakers for getting out the woods and do something else with the series. The movie has an great vibe for a horror movie. I would compare part 8 with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Both movies were shot around the same time in 1989, the female protagonists are redheads, both movies have scenes shot in sewers, and lets not forget the whole Jason/Casey Jones hockey mask thing. I also think the way Kane's exaggerated breathing and body movements also may remind viewers of the suits the actors wore in TMNT. I grew up loving the turtles and that first movie, so part 8 felt very familiar to me in that respect. I honestly think part 8 suffers from poor editing and a long run time rather than bad writing. Shave 15mins off the boat ride and the movie would have been better. People will hate me because I rank part 3 and part 6 so low. They are not bad movies at all, I just happen to enjoy the others more.

Part II
Part IV
Part I
Part V
Part VIII Jason Takes Manhattan
Part VII
Part III
Part VI
Remake
Freddy VS Jason
Part 10 Jason X
Part 9 Jason Goes to hell

Part 3 is amazing. How could anyone rank it so low? It's my personal favorite :). Meh at 6. Like it less every year.
Omg you are spot on about the TMNT comparison! It never crossed my mind, but it DOES have a similar vibe in some ways.

I'm a bit indifferent toward the zombie jason films ( I guess 6-10) but I rewatched al of them this Halloween weekend and I must say that i have a new appreciation for 6 and 7. I dig the first 4 and even 5 more because it's grounded in some kind of reality (very loose but still a bit more than these films) but VIII was horrible. I didn't even enjoy it for camp value. maybe if more of it took place in NY like they wanted but a lot of it was just dull, boring, and poorly written.

"Jason Goes to Hell" is easily the worst. "Takes Manhattan" is atleast hilarious in its badness. It's actually one of my favorites.
Maybe because I knew it was more like 'Jason Takes a Cruiseship' before I even watched it, I wasn't as disappointed as most people?

reply

I though this was the worst. You should actually check out the reboot. It kicks ass

reply

The reboot was the best one yet in my opinion, had some likeable characters, come good suspense moments and it had Danielle Panabker in it,constant win scenario

reply

Jason Goes to Hell was abysmal and this was right up there. With that said, part 9, part 8 and then part 5. Incredibly crappy. Remake was terrible too.

reply

How could anyone actually hate part 5 and 8? They're entertaining :/
