I'm getting a real Halloween 3 feeling here...

I've read some posts in other threads about how for some strange reason somebody overseas tried to cash in on the House series, naming this House 3, forcing the rightful owners of the House series to name their third movie House 4. Nope, they are all produced by Sean S Cunningham. He just pulled a Moustapha Akkad for some strange reason, like that move was so successful for the Halloween series.

Just an observation, comment if you'd like. Can anybody else think of other instances of this: jacked up sequals, completely unrelated to the series, cashing in and what not?

My examples would be the endless re-ups to The Crow (although, to be fair, I think the first Crow would've been just as big a hit if Brandon Lee hadn't been killed while making it, and would still have inspired a sequel -- and that sequel would probably have taken the same direction as City of Angels did, with a new Crow and possibly Brandon in a kind of "mentor" cameo role), and all the crap horror fans have had to put up with in the unbearable parade of terrible direct-to-video drivel "inspired" by Stephen King's Night Shift collection (The Lawnmower Man, The Mangler, Sometimes They Come Back, and especially Children of the Corn).
