...that woman who sells tires!

So, not only does it seem to me that the mom's dislike for Buck is the main reason Buck has been banned from their house but when she is listing all of the reasons Buck would make an unsuitable babysitter and she refers to Shanice as "that woman who sells tires!", she comes off as so insufferably snobby and judgmental. I mean Shanice seemed like a perfectly nice and decent person. So what if she sold tires? Is that something to be ashamed of? And not only that, but judging by the name of the tire shop, Kobalowski Tires, she owned the business and probably worked her butt off. Not to mention that the mom hasn't even bothered to learn the name of the woman whom her brother-in-law has been dating long enough to consider marriage with.

What a bitch.

yep...and that makes it easier to understand why tia's attitude is so crappy. the dinner table scene makes it pretty clear that the mother is really only interested in her career.

it made no sense why she stuck her nose up on Shanice. Shanice was a nice lady, she wasnt trashy. She had a good job.

I never liked the mom in this and I think the outside ugliness of the actress matched the inside ugliness of the character she played.

but notice how chanice didn't have to move to another city to make more cash. she owned her own business, employed many people, even had a company car to give to buck when he joined.

I really hated what she did to that picture in the wedding album.

and maybe the ugliness her daughter was giving her stemmed from the ugliness the mother was giving to everyone else.

Completely agree, bastille! The daughter Tia's attitude was from the mom's complete unintrest in her kids life, and her only ingest in her job/ "career".

the mother is such an awful human being. sitting in the background when Bob calls Buck, rolling her eyes that Buck is out of it. Yeah., its 2AM and he was fast asleep. he is going to be out of it. Not to mention, when they get back from Indianapolis, she comes in empty handed, while Bob carries in all the luggage. Always bugged me.

If she is a crappy person that has nothing to do with the fact that she works. It's a stigma given to moms who work outside of the home that should really be squashed by now, it is 2015! She could have been too driven with status that she had lost sight of what mattered, family. But again that doesn't mean if a mother works full time and loves her job that she would be like this mother and have children who act like Tia did.

I thought the mom was a snoot & a half. Granted, I didn't agree with Tia being THAT bitchy.
My mom, bad parent or not, would have slapped my mouth. 

But what made me curious was:
This supposedly-straitlaced mom names her 3 kids....Tia, Miles, and Maizy?!!
I suspect Mom was not always so straitlaced! 

Those names are very snobby sounding names, like she watched a soap opera about some rich family and got a name off of that.
