Not intended to be comedy??

Cage eats a cockroach, apparently for real. Just after putting a gun in his mouth and attempting suicide with blanks!
How is that not intended to be funny, and if Cage had me laughing all through, how is that a bad comedy performance?
I think this is the best performance I ever saw from Nick Cage.

I agree that Cage is incredible in Vampire's Kiss. This is not a comedy. It's a totally unique psychological horror movie.

reply

Yeah.

A true Cage fan must see Vampire's Kiss.

reply

I’m not a Cage fan, but I just happened to stumble upon this movie. He was so hilarious in this that it definitely makes me want to see more of his films.

reply

Are there any Nicholas Cage fans out there who haven’t seen Vampire’s Kiss?

reply

I haven't but just now sent myself a reminder to check it out!

reply

Highly recommended!

Couldn't agree more. Before watching, I read part "comedy", but never took any of it as comedy and it does not seem intended as comedy. It is a psychological horror like you said.

reply

I mean I did laugh alot watching it

reply

It's a black comedy, and an excellent example of one actually.

reply

Definitely intentional comedy beats.

reply

Its like a quirky horror comedy. There were tonnes of these around the time.

reply

I just saw this 2 days ago for the first time. Absolutely fantastic.

reply

I liked it, didn't love it. Huge nic cage fan though

I'm a fan of good, bad movies. I definitely understand that this has a lot of problems, but still highly enjoyable despite that. Mostly for the sheer craziness of it.

reply

I respect that. I love good bad movies.

reply

I mostly watch just bad ones on the off chance. But someone has too right.
