Opinions on the finale?

I've thought it was really disappointing and I didn't like seeing what happened to the main characters at the end of the finale.

reply

Considering all the greatness that preceeded it it was a letdown
But it was 'ok...,

reply

Exactly, the majority of people didn't like it including me. The King of Queens finale was pretty terrible too.

reply

It Sucked! Honestly...the the whole series hasn't aged that well imo.

reply

I though it was pretty funny when I watched it as it came out
on NetFlix. I had not watched it before. It seemed funny and
the characters were good. But, you're right, the finale was
just something that kind of disrespected the whole series, it
was dumb.

reply

Nah. The series has aged just fine. The finale wasn't very good (much of the final season, for that matter, fell short). But the first eight seasons, STILL gold. Doesn't matter how many times you see each episode, they're STILL funnier than anything that's been on TV since.

Whatever you say...watched again and thought it was beyond fucktardation...maybe my tastes have evolved?

reply

Maybe your tastes have devolved?

reply

Anyone who says “fucktardation” probably doesn’t have the best taste.

It wasn't a great finale as it was mostly a two part clip show. I get the concept of them paying for all the rotten stuff they did throughout the series, but they dropped the ball. The show is still brilliant, though.

reply

I did like seeing the one time characters make a return in the finale but other than that it was a real disappointment, I remember there was a lot of hype to the Seinfeld finale during that time.

reply

It was insanely popular back in the day. I think if they brought all the one time characters back and did something with them as opposed to just having them recalling past episodes, it would have gone down better.

reply

Aside from how much of it was a clip show, I think a main reason many people hate the final is that it pointed out to us that we had spent all this time rooting for 4 terrible people. This was kind of like a major twist, except it wasn't because we should have realized that in most other shows, these people would have been considered the bad guys, even Jerry.

reply

I think it was a great way to end the show (who but Larry David would have the guts to write a show ending where the main characters go to jail?), but I think they could have done even better. I think they should have stuck to the classic blend of farce and satire that Seinfeld somehow managed to pull off. The courtroom setting was too static. But overall, it's not bad.

Meh. But then that was my reaction to the whole series.

It was OK and historic at the same time.
It was entertaining but not hilarious.
It was original.
9/10

I didn't like it at all. Especially after sitting through youtuber LegalEagle (a real lawyer)'s take on how realistic the whole situation of the court case in that episode was. I get that it's a comedy show but still. The whole thing made 0 sense.
