Would you stand up to Tommy or no?

I would as Spider did. Spider had every right to stand his ground and tell Tommy to go f-ck himself. That psychotic piece of sh-t shot him in the foot and mocked him for his injury. Glad the real Thomas DeSimone went slow, as opposed to being shot in the back of the head like in the film.

reply

Probably not. Not unless I was willing to eliminate him right then and there. Standing up to him wouldn't even be worth it. Tommy had a straight up psycho mentality.

Keep your friends close, your enemies closer.
I would take the abuse from Tommy and try to let him know I looked up to him. Live to survive another day.
Since he was a made guy I couldn't make a move on him so I would have to just wait and see what happens. Guys like that usually get whacked quick because they cause so much attention to the crew.
If a few years go by and Tommy is still around, and if the opportunity arises, make a move. Still, no matter what keep him close.

reply

Stand up to him - face to face? Hell no. But I'd have NO problem taking him out when he didn't see it coming. It would require quite a bit of stalking and a silent weapon but I believe I could have done it with no problem. I think I would have used a cross bow through the head or neck.

reply

No, I don't have a death wish. In fact I would have tried to avoid him as much as possible due to his reputation. There are certain people I make a point of never rubbing shoulders with.

Guessing this poster confused Tommy and Jimmy. The real Tommy disappeared in 1979 and is presumed dead, very likely murdered. The real Jimmy died of cancer while in prison.

Tommy was a chaotic evil psychopath and standing up to him was suicide. Spider wasn't brave, he was fucking stupid, as if that wasn't obvious before he got himself blown away over nothing.

reply

Yep.. He sure did.. He had every right to tell Tommy to go fuck himself and he did, but he paid the price for it as well

reply

Only if I was sitting in a tank with the barrel pointed at his face.

reply

^THIS.

If you stand up to a guy like Tommy you better make sure he goes down for good because if he doesn't you'll be looking over your shoulder for the rest of your life.

Goodfellas is a horrible film, full of horrible characters and (apparently) beloved by horrible people (with likewise taste in movies)
