Would you stand up to Tommy or no?

I would as Spider did. Spider had every right to stand his ground and tell Tommy to go f-ck himself. That psychotic piece of sh-t shot him in the foot and mocked him for his injury. Glad the real Thomas DeSimone went slow, as opposed to being shot in the back of the head like in the film.

Hell no, buddy. Tommy was a nutcase. I would take *beep* from him and not respond. This would not make me a coward because I would objectively be in a disadvantageous position. And this is coming from a guy who stood up to thugs with guns and corrupt cops, and snatched a girlfriend from a gang member.

Like somebody previously said, the real life Tommy was a big, intimidating guy. He was more in the mold of an Al Capone, than what was depicted by Pesci in the film. Pesci had his hothead attitude down, but not the physicality that came along with the real Tommy.

Plus, Spider was surrounded by guys who would kill him in an instant, if it was called for. Not only did you have Tommy, but you had a guy like Jimmy, who had an infamous reputation as well. That would be pretty intimidating for the average person.

who says he "went slow"? From what hill said he was shot 3 times in the back. If Gotti got ahold of him, he would have tortured him though, for the "batts" deal.

Knowing how Tommy was, I don't think I'd tell him to go *beep* himself unless I was willing to die. But I wouldn't grovel either. I'd just ignore him. Get him his *beep* drink and go about my business.

The only way I could would be if I was like the Punisher. If I was though, I'd probably kill not only Tommy, but Jimmy, Henry, Paulie, and Tuddy as well as all of their associates. But the Punisher doesn't exist in real life and all of them were dead by the time I was really old enough to watch and enjoy movies. Except for Jimmy who died when I was 9 years old.

Discretion is the better part of valour. If he's willing to put a bullet through your foot over a mistake with a drink order then what will he do if you mouth off to him in front of his associates. Spider did not think that one through to it's inevitable conclusion. then of course Spider did not seem like a particularly bright person. He should have seen that slinging drinks at card games was as high as he was ever going to go in the mob, and that he would be treated with nothing but contempt. Even a minimum wage job at a gas station had to be better than that. Despite being shot through the foot, for some unfathomable reason he decided to go back. Let's just call this Darwin's Law.

He had every right to do it. And he got killed for it.

The best thing to do is to avoid being around cruel sociopaths, period. If that can't be avoided, at least don't antagonize them.

Remember, there is no "fair fight" with a guy like Tommy anyway, because his fellow goons would kill you even if you did manage to survive the encounter.

Nope, look what it did for Spider!
