Best non-Die Hard franchise bruce willis movie?

Absolutely! No other movie comes to mind (I do not consider Pulp Fiction in this category).

I saw this movie in theatres opening weekend 1991 when I was 12 and loved it.

It was one of the first DVDs I bought in 1999.

As for Hallenbeck, Bruce Willis' character makes the perfect scarred hero who is forced to use his strength and most importantly wits to regain the esteemed life he had taken unfairly away from him by the Senator.

The interlacing of a dirty professional football league and its dealings as a major source of antagonism is very savvy and believable even today. It also provides us with a large stakes story we can all relate to.

It is undeniable that Bruce Willis' character makes us laugh throughout the movie, but what makes Last Boy Scout special is how the witty one-liners actually affect the story and how he uses his wits to continue to stay alive--remember the movie's tagline.

Also, Bruce Willis' redemption through navigating his unstable marriage, whipping his coming-of-age daughter into shape and getting his life together is very compelling as a story any person can enjoy.

Whether it's for the action, the comedy or the storyline that's still pretty trim, this is a movie Bruce Willis makes truly special.

Daman Wayans' best movie too.

I think Striking Distance and Mercury Rising are quite enjoyable films.

Pulp Fiction (of course)
Sixth Sense and Unbreakable
Last Boy Scout
Hostage
16 Blocks

The following are guilty pleasures- I acknowledge that they're not great movies
Hudson Hawk
Blind Date
Bonfire of the Vanities (that had a big cast: Morgan Freeman, Tom Hanks, etc.)

I'm open! There's just nothing in there!

I've always considered The Last Boy Scout as a guilty pleasure. I didn't realize that it had a following like this, but I'm glad it does. It definitely is my favorite pure action movie with Willis aside from Die Hard 1 and Die Hard With A Vengeance. Of course, it's not Willis' best performance, but it's one hell of a fun, in-your-face action movie. As for Willis best movies, I think his best movies in terms of his performance and the script are The Sixth Sense and Twelve Monkeys. I've also really enjoyed him in The Kid, Pulp Fiction, Unbreakable, Bandits and Tears of The Sun.

Bill Foster: I'm the bad guy?...How did that happen?

Nah, It is 12 Monkeys. This film does kick %!%!@#%$#@% though.

Yes.

Edit: Sorry, forgot about Pulp Fiction, so I'll say second best.

Since Pulp Fiction doesn't count, I'll go with The Sixth Sense.

I'd rather watch The Last Boyscout again though. It's more entertaining.

Yeah, it's clearly his best non-Die hard movie where he's the clear lead or co-lead (which excludes Pulp Fiction(i seen this more of a Sam Jackson movie since his scenes are the highlight of that movie)).

in fact, i actually like The Last Boy Scout more than most of the Die Hard series...

1.Die Hard 3 (1995) - 8/10
2.The Last Boy Scout (1991)
3.Die Hard 4 (2007)
4.Die Hard (1988) - 7.5-8/10

the 2nd/5th Die Hard movies ain't really worth mentioning in comparison to those above.

p.s. i just noticed i made a initial post in here back in 2008 (basically 6.5 years ago now). my tastes have altered a bit since then as nowadays i think Bruce Willis most memorable movies are...

1.Pulp Fiction (1994) - 10/10 (although i don't really see this much of a Bruce Willis movie though as i see it more as the Sam Jackson show as his scenes are the most powerful)
2.Die Hard With a Vengeance (1995) - 8/10
3.The Last Boy Scout (1991)
4.Live Free or Die Hard (2007)
5.The Whole Nine Yards (2000) - 7.5-8/10
6.Die Hard (1988)
7.Last Man Standing (1996)
8.The Fifth Element (1997)

but my 7th/8th movies need a re-watch as it's been a bit to long since i last seen those two.

Off the top of my head, I'd say this and The Fifth Element.

Of Course!

However, I suggested they make a sequel because this is one of Shane Black's finest.

It wouldn't necessarily need Bruce. I'd call it "The Last Girl Scout" with Danielle Harris (The Daughter) as the lead.

Maybe using a women as the lead, without compromising comedy, any of great Shane Black one liners and hire someone with similar Tony Scotts (RIP) instincts. Have it Rated R.

This wouldn't be like "Thelma and Louise" either because "The Long Kiss Goodnight" is one of his best and had a female lead. Geena Davis and SLJ. I say go even as from both gender' s point of view : like Lethal Weapon.

Hire an unknown actress and be true to the spirit of the source material.
I think it's Daman Wayans' best dramatically but not the best comedically: "Major Payne" very underrated comedy.
