I don't think she was gorgeous, but I disagree with those saying she was miscast due to her looks. That's probably a good indication of what most black girls look like in The Bronx. Why should they cast a Beyonce look alike when that doesn't reflect reality?

Remember, this wasn't a pornographic film.

She looked like a real girl you could really meet. And in her real girl way, I thought she was stunning. If she gave me that initial look I totally would have been interested. Also, in real life, how often do guys fall for "normal" looking chicks. All the damn time. You can see a woman that really doesn't stand out all that much but TO YOU, she is extremely attractive.

Really? I don't think she's that great of an actress but I think she's pretty and her skin is GORGEOUS! Beautiful skin tone, she has.

I probably would've tried my luck with her.

They casted the right girl for the right part. She IS from the Bronx herself.

I semi-agree. I think Jane was cute, but they way they styled her hair was awful. There was no reason for her to wear that bun all the damn time.

Lets get real with it!!!

She doesn't look bad in general.. but I wish they had her have her hair open up in the movie.. I'm not a fan of the whole tied up hair look.

I'm really sick of the cliched Hollywood look of the love interests. This movie was Hollywood enough to not add that crap to the list. The OP's post is rather moronic and shows that he or she is a victim of marketing.

y'all are crazy! Taral Hicks is smoking hot! For a white or black or green woman! She is freaking gorgeous! (and I am white BTW!)

To be fair about it, C wasn't a much better actor. And frankly, I thought the actress playing Jane was very pretty. Not a great actress, but nothing wrong with her looks at all.

This white guy thinks Taral Hicks was/is totally gorgeous. I thought she was perfect for the role and wish she would have had more on screen time in the movie.

i agree. she is gorgeous

She had beautiful eyes and her smile was cute... i can see why people would complain about her tied up hair...but at the same time...i felt it was more "real" like she was the real black chick from down the street not the super model chick from the magazine they hired. which is what made jane and C's relationship more appealing and cute.

I'm a black woman and I say she had a cute face but I cast my vote in with those who didn't like her hair style. It annoyed the heck out me. How many girls, black or otherwise, wore their hair in a Grandma Clampett bun all the time even in the 1960s? Jane didn't even change it for her date with C! It was very unbecoming imo. She should have braided it, worn it in a 'fro, worn it down or anything else. I kinda wonder if De Niro instructed Taral Hicks to wear the bun to resemble his once-upon-a-time real life girlfriend Tookie Smith who often wore one I think.

Also, as Taral was already a tall girl and top-heavy, she really didn't need to wear that blazer with the shoulder pads.

Actually, I believe this movie doesn't 'need' to get a better looking African-American actress.

Tara (as Jane) is already good enough, despite her flaws. Also, it's more realistic that way, too, since it's set in the 1960's. ^_^

Taral is a friend of mine, she is a sweety, and yes a pretty gal friend or not. Her and her older sister are very accomplished singers originally from the Bronx
